The Triple
Strand

Perceptions that drive risk attitude are influenced by many factors.
These can be grouped under three headings: conscious assessments
that are largely rational; subconscious factors including mental
short-cuts or other sources of cognitive bias; and gut-level affective
factors including feelings and emotions.
The various factors form a triple strand
of influence that is a complex intertwining of factors that is hard
to unravel or predict.
